{"id":1650,"date":"2020-09-03T21:05:37","date_gmt":"2020-09-03T21:05:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/queensferryrowing.org\/?p=1650"},"modified":"2020-09-03T21:09:56","modified_gmt":"2020-09-03T21:09:56","slug":"on-this-day-episode-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/queensferryrowing.org\/?p=1650","title":{"rendered":"ON THIS DAY \u2013 Episode 9"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Continuing the as-it-happened story of how our club was born, ten years ago.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mike McD writes:<\/strong> We got the key for the vacant unit next to Scotmid (now divided into the vet&#8217;s and Barnardo&#8217;s charity shop) on 31 August, with just time to organise an inspection and clear up, because on 3 September, <strong>the kit arrived <\/strong>(see picture).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/7541\/28156196815_971eab220c_b.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project team had held their 4th meeting in mid August when it was reported that further donations &#8211; \u00a3200 from Seakist Antiques, and \u00a3100 each from John Howell and &#8216;Ferrie Scarie&#8217;, the ghost walk &#8211; had brought our total to \u00a3720 &#8211; sufficient to pay the final installment to Alec Jordan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So things were really starting to move. We agreed on the need for more publicity &#8211; an official hand-over of the premises to start with, and a whole list of possible fundraising activities.
