Rowing schedule

Social session times for 2024:

Saturday from 9am – Saturday from 9am – spaces in one
boat are bookable by emailing bookarow@queensferryrowing.org, and one boat
is available for turn-up-and-row

Sunday from 1pm – Saturday from 9am – spaces in one
boat are bookable by emailing bookarow@queensferryrowing.org, and one boat
is available for turn-up-and-row

Evening rowing sessions (6pm-8pm Tuesdays and Thursdays) have ended for this year, and will resume in the spring next year.

All rowing is subject to tides, weather, or the boats being away at an external event.  Additionally, members will often organise morning or afternoon outings via the group email or WhatsApp, after booking a boat by emailing
bookaboat@queensferryrowing.org. Note that a Skipper (ie, a responsible person or RP) is required for every row.

If you would like to join us, come down to the club hut at Port Edgar (click on About Queensferry Rowing Club for directions) to join one of our social sessions, please contact  Lesley (click on New Members for her details) before your first session to ensure it is on.

A typical social rowing session

Race training

Race training sessions are held on Saturdays at 8am (and sometimes 7am!), Sundays at 10.30am, and Wednesdays at 6pm – again the timings depend on tides, weather and the time of year.

The training sessions focus on technique and stamina, and can be very demanding physically. You’ll learn to perform a racing start and racing buoy turns. A typical regatta race is 2km long – pretty much the distance between the Forth Road Bridge and the Forth Bridge and back. We will sometimes row a longer course to build up stamina. If that sounds like your cup of tea, contact Sharon to be included in the race training emails and Doodle poll: sharonqueensferryrowing@gmail.com.

A regular race training session for our youth rowers is held on Sundays at noon.

It's great fun, honestly!
